Question: The local newspaper in the town where I live published an article containing personal information about me (I work for the local community council). Can I ask the newspaper for compensation?
Answer: Collection of personal data and its publication by the media is usually done in the public interest. You may not insist against such publication if that would contravene the freedom of speech. You also hold a public office and in this capacity society needs to be informed about the dealings of the institution you work for and represent.
